Webb Ape

Street monkey marketing to web apps; the web ape is a small monster.

Today almost everyone uses a smart phone. Most businesses have a web site. Most web sites do a browser configuration check and change to meet the screen size of the computer, terminal, device accessing the web site.

Want to market more to your customs in a more direct format?

Please excuse the poor English, the point is more and more marketing is just to keep and than to gain customers. Customers that are loyal cost you less and make you more money!

Whether you have a marketing department, a web site, or nothing more that a business card – consider a web app. A web app is a small web site that is optimized for mobile devices. These can be held entirely on the device and run even when there is no data connection.

Like the SIMIAM referenced in the introduction, Web Apes (apps) are “gorilla marketing,” which can be a gentle monster.

Gentle because you can have a bar code at your front desk, front door or on your business card that loads the web app onto a smart phone. Hopefully your customers can access your wifi at your front door, or keep the app very small. (No one really trusts their data plan.) A monster because it can be difficult and get wild, but does not need to.

Gentle because you are pulling in your relationship with your customer, not pushing at them, yelling louder and louder just hopeing to be noticed. A gentle pull is effective, a push gets results but does not make friends. Friends do more marketing for you by speeding the word about you to friends and relatives.

Your web app can be hosted by your web site, or if you do not have a commerical web site there are many inexpensive hosts including the people that might help you with your custom web app.

Best Feature of a web app is that not only can these be delivered directly to the smart phone, because the app can be set to always check for an update – you can have a section of your app with special private customer only information and specials. (like a local update on the weather and the implications for your customers.)

This will build loyality!

The web app on a smart phone can have a special phone number that is dialed by the customer directly to you or by passes the answering service. Or email address sent from the mobile device that is the ‘Private’ line for valued customers only.

Two big ideas for you to consider, private access and special news and offers.

Tips:

  • If you have a web site you need a web app.
  • keep it up, too many web sites are static and boring, You want your customers to check for new information regularly
  • keep it simple, if you have other social marketing use that also but keep your web app special and about the relationship between you and your customer
  • keep it fresh, the manifest that holds the information making a web app run even when off line can have online and off line content, and update when you change information. you want people to check in to see what new with you.

Have more than one! If you are just a solo, still have more than one app. You might wish to consider a general marketing app, and individual apps. If you have customer service persons, an app with their text to number embedded, with possibly the ability to send a photo, and functions to describe the photo.

Example you are a widow cleaner, your best customers could send you photos of bird smears they want sooner than latter attention to. Or if your customers are having a private party and want to not be be disturbed they could send a do not disturb calendar event.

If your company has more than yourself, include I have a complaint and I need to be called by someone who can get it done button. Like a list of representatives that know customer that used to be handed to new customers. These little apps will cement your customer relations.

Even if you are just by yourself you might have a seasonal app, or few for different nieghborhoods. Lots of possibilities.

Street Monkey Marketing

Pull Tab Advertising

It has made a comeback. It may be the economy or it may be too many “monetized” website and news letters.

But old fashioned pamphlet advertising does work.

“Call to Action!”

How many unsolicited email and how many unwanted straight to recycle junk mail do you get. With pull tab, only those that do want your free or low cost product will take a little slip of paper.

I have used this method all be it; in another time. Very effective. Like the Greg list of the typewriter times. Even hand written, (as mine were.)

Then came the fantastic per page copy shops, with many colors. The favorite being ‘Golden Rod.”

Why would there be such a resurgence in this basic form of marketing?

Both the over and mis reported bad news economy, along with the resulting government directed clamp down on small businesses, and pervasive amount of ‘experts’ on advertising and marketing.

A craftsman small business just cannot afford the costs, the time, or insults of many of these marketing experts. So he goes to the quick copy shop.

A little clip art and instant marketing. Find a few Laundromats, a few coffee shops, bulletin boards, and many lamp posts. Soon you mobile phone will ring.

Tips:

Be honest, no one wants to have their home surveyed for a break in.
Offer to meet first in a neutral setting
Find out where they took the tab
Show up as promised
Do real and valuable work
Don’t offer to do it under the table
Say “Thank you”
Clean up after yourself. (Don’t litter the public streets)

Of course beware, every consultant will soon also be calling or spaming you just to let you know that you have done everything all wrong :) again!

Review of The Happiness Hypothesis

The Happiness Hypothesis: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom

by Jonathan Haiti

The name of this book is only slighly misleading. It does delve into why someone might not be happy, and reasons to be happy.

I found the references to old ideas from the Torah to Buddhism very helpful.

A book everyone should review or listen to. If you have found it hard to reconcile things teachers and others have told you about yourself you will find this well written book a good resource.

I am re-listening to this, I hope you will enjoy and learn from it as well.

This book discusses set points, and to an extent refutes the concept that you are just born that way and there is nothing you can do about it. He (Jonathan) detail more that one way to reset your set point.

The Positive Opinion

Support

A positive opinion expressed by someone you admire is worth more than almost anything. The one thing that may be worth more is a positive opinion of yourself.

If those you look up to, always find fault with you, it is hard to have anything positive in your heart.

The most positive person I have ever known is standing tall in this photo.

Celebrate Similarities and Sameness

With all the hate and seeking of revenge we know of in this world today; if we practiced finding how we all are greatly more the same possibly a few more would find the inner peace of friendship.
